Driven: Freshman Christopher Mitchell's Vertical Pulse Aluminum Series Bike

Most girls at school are attracted by fast cars, and who can blame them? When it comes to impressing the ladies, though, freshman Christopher Mitchell doesn’t need a Corvette or a Mustang. Christopher has all that he needs in his Vertical Pulse Aluminum series bicycle.

History of the two-wheeler
Christopher got his bike for Christmas of 2002. The Vertical Pulse Aluminum series isn’t exactly the bike Christopher asked for, but he’s very happy with what he got.

“It’s got lots of different gears, nice steering, well-working brakes and it’s really fast,” Christopher said.

Christopher’s Vertical Pulse is definitely a standout in the bike rack area. With a small crimson frame, this mountain bike is sleek and pleasing to the eye.
“I like the shape and the way it looks, but it’d be better blue and black,” Christopher said.

A good way of getting around
Christopher rides his bike to school every day, an intense two and a half mile trek.

“I have three sisters, so my parents have to take them to school. One of them goes to middle school, and one is at elementary school. So I’m left with riding my bike,” Christopher said.

Although Christopher uses his bike mainly for transportation to and from school, one can also find him cruising around on the weekends. Christopher manages to get to many places with his bike.

“I use it on weekends to go to the library and state park. Just yesterday I went all the way to Costco, which is 10 miles from my house,” Christopher said.

Sporting 21 different gears and big rubber shocks, Christopher’s Vertical Pulse is well-suited to handle rough terrain. With these special features, it’s no wonder that Christopher decided to protect his bike with a formidable steel chain.

“I store my bike in the garage, and when I go places I use my bike lock. I’m not worried about it getting stolen,” Christopher said.

No need for a car
Although Christopher is glad that he has his Vertical Pulse Aluminum series bike, he can’t wait until he gets a car.

He finds riding his bike for extended periods of time to be tiresome and hard on his body.

“It’s good for when you’re going just to school, but is uncomfortable for anything longer than that. Better than a scooter, though,” Christopher said.
Until Christopher is able to get his hands on a car, he’ll have to continue to ride his bike to school everyday.

Not so bad, when he has a bike as cool as a Vertical Pulse Aluminum series. Some advice? Forget the car idea, Christopher, and just stick with the bike.

The ladies love it.
