Wilcox football scandal
The Wilcox High School football team was forced to forfeit a game after a player on the team forged a teacher’s signature to raise his grade. The forged signature gained him eligibility for the football team as his grades did not meet the 2.0 GPA required for an athlete. Prior to forfeiting, the team had a 6-1-1 record.
School gym vandalized
The school gym was broken into on Saturday, November 15. The door handle lock on the door to the lobby was ripped off, and the light switch, which can be accessed with a key, was damaged after someone attempted to put a screwdriver in the light switch. The result was that lights on one half of the gym were left inoperable because of the damaged light switch. Also, doors into the gym and boys locker room were left open. Athletic director Monica Lodge does not believe the incident is connected to acts of vandalism.
